The Forest From Seed project works with children and their communities to gather seeds from local trees, learning about their lore and ecology through song and story, games and crafts, wild food and medicine making. By experiencing and receiving the gifts of the trees through a head, heart and hands relationship, the impulse to give back is cultivated. The children then learn how to plant the seeds. Over the year to come, they tend them in a tree nursery as they grow into saplings. One day the children will plant these trees out in a Children’s Forest, tending them with their communities for the children now and yet to come.
